I've made happiness a part of my list of choices. I choose to be happy despite everything that is sucky about life. I figured that there will always be things and situations in life that may not go as planned, or worse, happen despite all best intentions and efforts. We are all confronted with surprises and unforeseen events and we will most likely have no choice as adults but to suck it up and fix it. However, it is the attitude that we choose to put on everyday as we tackle the displeasures and calamities in life that makes the difference. Choosing to be happy is a habbit. It is not easy and requires practice. Don't get me wrong: I get upset, I worry, I get stressed out and I get hurt, just like everybody else. But fundamentally, I choose to claim my life as "Happy Life" DESPITE EVERYTHING. Does that make sense?
When I begin to see my life as a happy life, I feel stronger as a person: no matter what life throws at me, I have a relaxed mind and openness to think clearly. My mind is relaxed therefore I can allow positive energy and ideas to come in. I may not have control over what may happen today or tomorrow. However, I can control how I choose the light in which to view them: "I am happy in spite of" or "This just sucks".
Tomorrow is a new day, the start of a new week in 2012. I have no idea what tomorrow will bring but what I know is that I am going to choose to be happy tomorrow no matter what.
May you start your week with a smile in your heart and a sunshine within you :)
