Last Sunday, I had the privilege to photograph the launch party for the upcoming TV show called ‘Power Ng Pinoy’ (Power of the Filipino) which is being produced by Prowave Media Productions and will soon air on September 18th on the Filipino GMA TV Network . My friend and show’s Executive Producer, Arnold called and asked me if I can cover the event and of course, I said yes. I am a lifestyle photographer so I don’t typically do event shoots like these (not to mention, that is the night before Troy’s first day of school), but there was nothing more that I would do than to be there to support him and this fantastic endeavor.
I remembered when Arnold first mentioned the idea to me: a documentary-style program that will showcase Filipinos who have excelled in their own right and who make the Filipino nation proud. It aims to inspire, to motivate and to highlight some of the wonderful Filipino values: versatile, patient and unwavering (Madiskarte, Matiyaga, Hindi Sumusuko). It was a simple but wonderful concept. A year ago, I told him, “Go for it! You are doing a good thing, my friend. “ A year later, a show is born and the first season airs this coming September.
You can read more about the show here . But my personal reflection about this whole thing relates from my @mostpreciousart twit this morning: Create a BIG Vision….then make it BIGGER. No matter where our interest lies, or what our passion is, dream about the BIG things we can do about it and visualize. Calm the fears that comes with dreaming big by replacing them with thoughts of how our dream/ vision will benefit others, how we can make a difference. In the process, we can elevate and inspire others and along the way, we will be pleasantly surprised that we will attract people who shares our vision and will want to participate in the realization of the dream.
So to Arnold and the staff and crew of Power Ng Pinoy of whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting this weekend. Thank you for making a difference and for dreaming big! I’ve heard about the sacrifices you’ve made and really stepping outside your comfort zones…Congratulations…This is just the beginning…
